People living on the very real Butthole Lane say they won't change the name

*sniggers*

RESIDENTS OF A STREET called ‘Butthole Lane’ in the UK are adamant that the name will never change, no matter how rude it sounds.

Recently, residents of Butt Hole Road in Conisburgh, South Yorkshire, forked out £300 to change the name to the Archer’s Way – because people kept getting their bums out beside the street sign.

But people living on Butthole Lane in Shepshed, Leicester have pledged to keep the name exactly as it is.

According to the Leicester Mercury, the chairman of the Shepshed parish council has said that anyone who tried to re-name Butthole Lane would be “laughed out of court”.

(To make things a bit more clear: ‘Butt’ does not mean ‘arse’ here, but ‘target’ – local history states that men once went to Butthole Lane to practise their archery skills.)

Bill Hutchinson told the paper:

It is part of the tradition of Shepshed. Everybody that is a Shepshedian by birth has happy memories of Butthole Lane.

“It’s a permanent fixture,” Hutchinson continued. “I would hope, for centuries to come, anyone proposing to change it would be laughed out of court.”

That loyalty. *wipes away tear* It’s just… beautiful.
